It's spring, but the only think I can find in bloom are the Ocatillo. They do make a nice red splash across the desert landscape though.

Spring is here. I took these while on a walk with Marge on Friday. The first two are certainly not native to the Chihuahuan Desert, rather exist only at the whim of home owners. The third, Ocotillo, however is exemplary of this desert.

The other day, I heard this gem on the radio. They were discussing the modern state of newspapers, and said, "as with most things, they were a lot better in the past." Ain't that the truth. Almost everything was better 20 years ago, because I think we have chosen (or had chosen for us) quantity and choice over quality.

So, in anticipation of our first visitor here in El Paso (my mother-in-law), I spent the day yesterday cleaning up the yard. So before sending these plants towards thier un-timely death, I thought I'd take a few photos of the cooler looking ones. I only know the first, probably some species of Erodium.

It was a nice day in the 60s and I wore shorts....sometimes I love the weather here.
